Nissan Micra Hatchback 1.4 SX 3d (2003/53) Owner Review

Economy
Value
It went for 10k brand new in 2003 and I picked it up at 5k with 14k on clock which is a bargain! These little hatches depreciate heavily but first buyer took the heavy depreciation penalty on new cars. especially this SX model comes with many goodies.
Costs
Top notch, I constantly hit 46mpg or 40mpg if i drive like a maniac. It hit 100-120 miles every 10 pounds! Insurance is group 4 and 125 for tax, all very economical and affordable.

Driving
Driving position is good, visibility is excellent yet it reminds you of driving a 7-seater rather than a little hatch. Seats are generally comfortable, but headrest is awkward for people under 5'11.
Performance
Its OK, it goes when you want it to but don't expect exhilarating speed. It does what it does best which is around town, it revs too high to stay on motorway and don't try to outrun someone at lights.

Living with it
Reliability
Owned a Sunny before and it lasted 8 years without a single major problem and this little car will do just that and more if i decide to keep it for longer.
Image
Cannot shake off the feminine/black cabby image so if you are male and interested, get a black one! Get one that's fully loaded with alloys and fogs and spoiler otherwise it'll just look like a learner's car!
Comfort
Generally acceptable as seats are OK, but not body hugging enough, soft suspension make it like bouncy-castle through the easiest corners. Anyway many gadgetries will keep you entertained throughout your journey!

Security and Service
Security
No alarm, keyless start and entry is a bonus but need getting used to. I wouldn't think it will attract too much attention unless you have something expensive on show.
Service
Haven't been one yet.
