Nissan Primera Estate (1998 - 1999) 2.0 TD SLX 5d Owner Review
In their own words
Everything but the engine …
This car is massively well-built. At 22 years old there is no trace of corrosion, the paint lacquer is still good and the seats as supportive as new. It handles and rides with fantastic poise and is very comfortable.
The 2.0 TD engine is dependable and, according to friends, should be good for 400,000 miles.
Which is my only regret. I should have bought a petrol or bi-fuel model. This is an old-fashioned turbo-diesel, very noisy and really quite thirsty. I can get 40mpg most of the time if I take it easy, but not at motorway speeds. Only 90 bhp means that 5th gear is quite low and engine noise is saturating and exhausting. The emissions badge (here in France where I live) is in the most polluting category so this car will be banned from an increasing number of town and city centres on weekdays. I shall keep this car for lugging and towing stuff in the countryside, but definitely buy a quiet petrol car for the motorway.
How reliable do you find the car?
Crankshaft position sensor failed but local Nissan garage diagnosed and fixed rapidly. Otherwise, faultless.About their car
