Three sizes of petrol unit: a 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0, the later of which is available with 130bhp or in the GT model 150bhp. They all perform well and return good fuel economy to the point where the 2.0 litre turbodiesel unit is hard to justify as it’s only slightly more economical than the 1.6 petrol, yet performs with significantly less vigour.
Poised and confidence-inspiring handling. It’s also easy to drive and capable of rewarding the enthusiastic driver. There are three chassis settings, depending upon the sportiness of the model, the top model – and most sporty – is the GT. Good ride comfort although GT is harder sprung.
