Nissan Primera Hatchback (2002 - 2006) 1.8i S 5d Owner Review

In their own words
Bought this car when my beloved Proton Impian decided to die on me after approximately 2 years of faithful service. I paid £1500 for a 50000 mile example. Took me a while to get used to the central dashboard - I kept looking straight ahead but there was nothing there! Once used to it all was fine. Nice ride, smooth gear change and light steering. Comfortable seats and ok for long journeys. Costly to run - I had to change the clutch (only second time ever in 650000 miles of motoring) and one of the wheel hubs and the car drank oil - 1 litre for every 1000 miles. In the end it failed the MOT. I was advised it needed £400 of work to get a pass and another £400 in a couple of months time. I scrapped it and bought a Proton Gen 2 Persona 4 Door Saloon. I thought Nissan were bulletproof but mine wasn't. Sorry Sunderland. I wish it was better.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I am used to utilitarian cars. I don't need flash cars just something durable that will take me from A to B and do 30-40,000 miles a year without complaint. This car should have done that but kept getting problems and was costly to run as a result. I would have liked a diesel estate version but they are hard to find. It did take a lot of cargo. I took a load of stuff to my aunt for a party. It took 5 trips but each one was loaded up and the car didn't complain or compromise on the steering or ride.About their car
