Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£14,000
When did you buy the car?
September 1995
Did you get a good deal and why?
Superb deal - massive trade in, huge discount, a giant bunch of freebies, and even a bunch of flowers for my wife. All because they'd managed to ignore me and then insult me earlier.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I wanted something sensible for the high miles I was doing, but something a bit more fun to drive.
What was the dealer like?
Dealership as a whole were good, but individual staff members were very mixed.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good fun, for a front wheel drive car. The 2.0 engine is surprisingly powerful, dragging the car to 60 over a second quicker than the official 0-60 time of somewhere around 9 second. Handling is sharp, although there's a little too much understeer once you pass the limit. An unstable roll centre means you can get the back end swinging out at times, but it's normally predictable and easily controllable.
What's it like to park?

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
136,000 miles later, not one thing had gone wrong, bar a couple of the lights in the dashboard failing. A new bulb would sort that out.
What's most practical about your car?
It's a four door saloon, spacious up front, reasonably good in the rear, and with a generous boot. It's more practical than I'll ever need.
