Nissan Qashqai (2014 - 2021) 1.5 dCi Acenta+ 5d Owner Review

I have had my Nissan Qashqui for two and a half years; it has done just over 71,000 miles. It is a company car. I have read many other reviews and have seen some common themes. I was really taken with my Nissan Qashqai when I initially got it. I liked the appearance, the level of spec; it was comfortable to be in with a good ride height and stable position on motorways. But after roughly a year, I started to notice a lot of faults and issues. I have been to my local dealer at least twelve times in the last year alone. I am on almost on the Christmas card list with staff from the service and repairs department! The most recent problem that has reoccurred twice is a fault to the wiring of the rear right wheel and brakes. This meant I had no full ABS, no full traction control or tyre pressure gauge and the stop start function was permanently lit as ‘on’. Other issues I have had with the car include: there is a rattle in the driver’s door when I go round a corner. I had to have the dashboard taken apart to deal with a rattle somewhere in the dashboard (reported as a known issue by Nissan). There is now a rattle somewhere else in the centre console. Christmas 2016 my mother-in-law bent one of the rear tailgate struts by accident by trying to force shut the boot. That was her mistake and I had to replace the strut but what struck me was how much it bent the plastic boot trim panel out of shape. I went to put it back thinking surely it must have clips, but no, it is just ‘rested’ in place. So I had to use a hairdryer to bend it back into shape. I then realised that the build quality and the various rattles makes for quite a flimsy interior to the Nissan Qashqai. Driving the car I notice it can be flat pulling away at junctions which can be quite scary when you need to pull away in a hurry. I have had sporadic problems with the car stereo system not wanting to play ball when ever I plug in my iPhone to listen to music. It appears to play for a bit, if you are lucky then jump back on to the radio. Trying to make hands-free phone calls when driving is difficult as the road noise makes it hard to hear someone on the phone. I have the volume fully turned up to max but it is still tricky to hear the other person. The most recent issue I now have is the remote central locking appears to be playing up. A few times I have gone to unlock the car and it remains locked. Some of my colleagues also have a Nissan Qashqai and have little or no bother. I wondered if it was just me having bad luck, but as indicated, I have read other reviews and seen a lot of similar problems. I am quite disappointed with the car overall. I started out with high hopes and was initially really pleased to have chosen it. However, I am due a new company car this year and I will not be choosing a Nissan Qashqai again.
