In their own words
I needed an automatic car with higher seating position due to a bad hip. This seemed as good as any on my budget, but after a few months ownership I have to say I haven't fallen in love with it. Performance of the CVT gearbox is not good, especially after owning a couple of VW/Audi DSG boxes. Fuel consumption not impressive, averaging around 37-38mpg even with careful driving on a mix of long and medium journeys. Bigger engined, heavier VW/Audi models produced much better performance but also significantly better MPG. The moral of the story is, if you are moving down from premium German brands, this will not impress you. Quality of seats and materials are a long way from what I've been used to, and the creaks and groans from various interior parts don't make for relaxed driving. If you are moving from Ford/Vauxhall or French brands you will probably find this car OK, even good. My own fault - I should have researched a bit more before buying. An Audi Q3 would have been a better bet for me, but couldn't find an auto one for my budget at the time. To be fair to the car, my wife preferred it to VW Tiguan, BMW X1 and Honda CRV that we also test drove at the time. She found it more comfortable and preferred the interior space. The full length glass roof in my car does add to the spacious feel, and without it I think the interior is a bit black and claustrophobic, especially in the rear. My advice: take a VERY long test drive before you buy, or better still get the car home for 24 hours.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
