Nissan Qashqai review

In their own words

The Qashqai E Power is a great car. It’s 190 ps power delivers a punch for such a small motor supported by the hybrid system. Mine is the N-Connecta with glass roof and the optional 12” infotainment screen. Off the lights it takes off. As a former owner of the new Honda HRV hybrid there’s no comparison when it comes to power. The HRV was so underpowered it had to go. The Qashqai E power has everything you need in a small suv and I would say it’s best in class for around £31,000. A good looking car and a decent boot too and great spec.

Now the disappointing part which for a growing number of owners on social media are irritated by. The car randomly may display a warning stating’ E Power System fault. Unable to restart after power off’. As you can imagine this is very disconcerting to owners and many are suffering from this issue. All that affected owners know so far is that it’s a generator issue. Nissan dealers will book the car in, plug it in and clear the warning. For a number of owners this has not resolved the issue and the warning returns without notice. I speak from experience as mine went back to my dealer twice. It did restart and no loss of power for me. As I write this review it has not returned fingers crossed, but for some owners it has many times. Some are demanding Nissan refund them or change the car. There are growing groups on social media specifically about this subject. For me I really like the car and I will keep it up until warranty expires and then change it only because I can’t take the risk beyond 3 years old. Buy one you will love it and I hope your car doesn’t have this problem. Owners with this recurring problem are calling for a recall. I hope Nissan do the right thing and support all the owners who are not satisfied with how Nissan are dealing with this issue in the UK which will bite them in sales new and used eventually. Buyers stay in warranty at all times if no recall happens.

How reliable do you find the car?

I’m only highlighting one major issue. Other than that the E Power is a great car. Smooth and punchy with great specifications.
