Nissan QX 3.0 V6 SEL 4d Auto (1999/V) Owner Review

Economy
Value
£30k fully loaded car for the price of a Escort L. Enormous initial depreciation makes these cars excellent value for money.
Costs
Nobody's heard of the QX therefore some parts are hard to get, though my local service centre was well impressed when it went on the ramp for an oil change as they had never seen one!

On the road
Driving
Really light steering, wallows a bit in bends but this is a big car. No problem on motorways, will stay at 69.9mph all day. Really comfortable and cosseting ride.
Performance
200bhp on tap, acceleration is immense and brutal but you can also tootle off nice and slowly if necessary. Switchable auto box is nice, never had any problems (had the Maxima previously).

Living with it
Reliability
It's a Nissan and these QX's are renowned for being ultimately reliable. My car has done 192,000 and it drive like new!
Image
Again, nobody has heard of the QX but it really is Nissan's beast kept secret. Those in the know appreciate this car.
Comfort
Fully loaded car wants for nothing. High quality leather seat cosset you bottom and are really supportive when driving for a long time.

Security and Service
Security
Never tested and thieving scumbags don't even know what it is! :O)
Service
Local Nissan dealer is excellent though some parts can be a bit pricey!

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
3L V6 24v. Sometime you have to check the rev counter to make sure it's still on as it's so quiet, even after 192,000 miles. Quality indeed.
Other
Timing chain (as opposed to a belt) means that no disaster will occur so long as the tensioners are adjusted when serviced. This car is one of my favourites ever and if you buy one, you will also love it. You can loose!
Ownership
