Nissan X-Trail (2014 - 2022) 1.6 dCi Tekna (7 Seat) 5d Xtronic Owner Review

In their own words
I have the 2WD CVT 7-seat 1.6DCi Tekna (2016 66). 31K miles and owned from new. Has been totally reliable to date, one sensor fixed in nearly 4 years otherwise servicing only. Worst part is the driving experience, large turning circle, slow to pull away, and the CVT gearbox has the car running at 2,300 rpm at 70 on the Mway which is somewhat unpleasant - it's happier at 50-60 mph and I never drive it fast. There's little enjoyment in driving this 2WD CVT version. I find the knee room for drivers is awful - the lower part of the plastic dash is very bulky around the steering wheel area - so it's not comfortable for me to drive (6 ft 3). It's been very cheap to run and we get 45+ mpg on a longer trip, but most of our journeys are short and slow and hence 32 mpg is the computer number for the life of the vehicle. 7 seats are useful occasionally of course but you lose 120 litres of boot space, making the boot only 445 litres which is small. Rear passengers have lots of space and you can slide the rear seats forward to create more boot space - we do this when loading up for holiday. Having owned a 2009 X trail for 4 years (one of my favourite cars) this new one has been disappointing - it's just so bland behind the wheel and I can't forgive it for that. It feels safe and is well equipped, although we don't really need leather seats or the power boot. The 360 camera is fantastic, and I wouldn't be without one again, we have only kerbed one wheel in the cars ownership and it's a doddle to park. As a big family wagon it's fine overall - the kids like it & it always works. I suppose that's it's job - but I'll be looking for a much better drivers car next time around.
