Should you buy one?

If looking to buy outright – rather than on finance – and you want a brand new family friendly SUV at a low price then by all means take a closer look at the Omoda 5. The firm is promising good aftersales support, and the car includes a long warranty for added peace of mind. The five-star Euro NCAP rating is reassuring, too.

However, you need to keep in mind that the driving experience won’t have the depth of sophistication offered by more established brands, nor will it challenge them for fuel economy. The Omoda 5 also has a surprisingly small boot for a vehicle of this size.

If you’re shopping with a monthly budget in mind, you can almost certainly do better. Rivals such as the Nissan Qashqai and Skoda Karoq are more practical, better to drive, more comfortable, and more efficient.
