Perodua Nippa GX 5d (1999/V) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Cheap to buy, and don't listen to vendors telling you that it is worth lots. They depreciate like a stone and that is fact. Pick up a decent 4-5 year old car for 3 figures.
Costs
Never costs anything, and feel good about driving all weekend on a tenner of fuel!

Driving
Great fun - like driving a go-kart!! Excellent handling for a small car, and very light. Throw it around and you will have lots of fun, but it doesn't bite.
Performance
Feels much quicker than it is. Lets be fair, with an 847cc engine you will not be racing hot hatches, but it has ample power for lugging several kids and shopping along at a normal pace and if you want to play, the engine has enough grunt to be fun!

Living with it
Reliability
I have had mine for a year and 18,000 miles, and not a glitch. Oh - except the handbrake lamp stays on all the time, but I think it is just a sticky microswitch.
Image
Depends how you look at it. Doesn't have much street cred, but then while your friends and neighbors are driving a 10yr old Fiesta, you will be in a 4 year old car with 1/4 of the miles on it. That should wipe the sniggers off their faces!
Comfort
Seats are rather small (and I am on the light side) and rather firm. That said, after a 4 hour drive I have no aches or stiffness at all. Narrow, but reasonable legroom and plenty of headroom. Carries 4 adults comfortably, and still has boot space.

Security and Service
Security
No idea, but easy to lock yourself out of it! Can't imagine why it would be stolen - not fast enough for joyriding and to cheap to be worth reselling.
Service
Dealers are variable. Shop around as some can't be bothered and others are wonderful. Main dealer servicing is surprisingly cheap - astonishingly so, in fact!
