Peugeot 106 1.1 XL Independence 3d (2000/W) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Especially from new with the 1 year free insurance that seems to come with each new model.
Costs
Great since nothing has needed fixing, except for a new exhaust. Don't use Peugeot - twice as expensive (and 3 times as long) quoted as for a 3rd party.

On the road
Driving
Darts like a bee round town, whooshes happily on the open motorway. Steering a touch heavy for parking.
Performance
A bit slow off the mark, but good at mid speeds. I am driving ~100 miles/ day on motorway now and getting ~60mpg! Astonishing! That's 450+ miles on a full tank.

Living with it
Reliability
Not a problem. He lives outside and has been fine apart from a blown exhaust, 35k on the clock and breezed through his MOT.
Image
I reckon the 106 is getting a bit retro-cool a basically zippy little car with bags of character. I love it!
Comfort
A lot more effort goes into seating on more modern cars now there's not a lot of room in the back and if you're a bit long the driver's seat can be a bit tough on the back on long journeys.

Security and Service
Security
It's always worked for me! No alarm, mind, but who ever pays attention to them? Immobiliser is good.
Service
Bad. Over-priced parts & labour. Good, great insurance deals (and great on renewal and for other car as well)
