Cheap as chips! Go for a one year old, 12,000 mile job though rather than new. Picked mine up for £4800 - should be £6700 new! 11 months old, 12k miles. Good value!

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Generally good. Fuel costs fine. Had a bit of a problem and got a thorough service (i.e. everything!) done at 36k miles - cost me £280.00 plus VAT! Last service at 48k however was only £70.

    Driving

Handling wise. Can be fun, especially in the wet on roads that the driver knows. Picked up some tricks from its big brother Gti, I think. Feels very nervous though sometimes. Poor brakes!

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Slowish pickup. Sometimes feels very tired on motorway and revs high, but other times feels very nippy. Affected by cheap petrol and heavy passengers I think. 3 or more passengers and it struggles a bit.

    Reliability

Only had one problem. Left it parked on a hill for 4 days with next to no petrol and wouldn't start. AA man couldn't even start it. Towed me and then it went ok. £270 service followed. Fine in the morning.

Not great. Not got alloys or body coloured bumpers. Get the usual 'car-ism' attitude from other drivers assuming it's a little car with no power. Not completely true - eats Saxos and Puntos for brekkie.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Ok-ish. Seats can be a bit uncomfy. After 2 hours driving, say, my back starts to hurt and I'm only 20! Get a CD player - the tape player isn't great, but speakers are good.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

No alarm, immobiliser or deadlocks. Buy a stoplock. Boot lock broke and had to be replaced - needed a new key so therefore got 2 now. Peugeot couldn't syncronise existing key to fit new barrel for me.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Some dealers fine, others very poor. E.g. when serviced, one dealer wanted me to insure the courtesy car myself! Not good! Avoid big dealer groups although Perrys are good. Caledonia poor!

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Engine ok. Mine's as fresh as a daisy after 56k miles. Expect another 30k of hassle free drive out of it.

    Other

Only going to sell it as I'm a car fan and am going to upgrade to a 1.6 GTI. Basic, but great 1st car!
