Peugeot 106 1.4 XND Graduate 5d (1994/L) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Great MPG fuel consumption.
Costs
Have forked out a lot on repairs (gasket, cracked cylinders - VERY pricey).
-
On the road
Driving
Not bad at speed, but really sluggish on an incline.
Performance
Good on long journeys, but anywhere uphill and there's no grunt.
-
Living with it
Reliability
When it's good, it's very very good, when it's playing up, it's awful!
Image
Bit dated now. Newer models are a bit curvier, but quite sweet for my first car.
Comfort
Not bad. Quite roomy for a small car, but seats are now quite spongy with age, hence backache on long journeys.

Security and Service
Security
Had the barrel fiddled with and they didn't get in, so not bad in my books.
Service
Never had service FROM Peugeot as they are rip off merchants for what they charge. Find a good private garage and get it done there. I did!

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Loads (glow plugs, head gaskets, cylinders, battery, exhaust - but that was the garage's fault!)
Other
General wear and tear for its age.
Ownership

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
Yes
