Economy
Value
Very good VFM. There are cheap ones about. Avoid boy'd up ones, because they are getting quite collectable they seem to be holding their money now.
Costs
Mine isn't the best on MPG, due to it being a dated hot hatch they have all had a hard life so don't expect it to be problem free.

On the road
Driving
Handles very well, although in the wet due to the high BHP and FWD it understeers like anything even when feeding the power in exiting the corner, but I think a set of yoko's would help that.
Performance
Very very swift for a 1400 8v n/a engine, goes like the clappers. I've fitted a K&N aftermarket kit on mine, just to make it sound more fruity. Very chuckable car too. Much more suited to dry weather though.

Living with it
Reliability
As I said, it's a 12 year old, most likely abused car. Mine needs a new clutch, rear wiper motor, igniton switch, a misfire on light throttle, fuel guage isn't worth looking at, it goes from 3/4 to 1/4 within seconds and o/s leccy mirror doesn't work.
Image
Pretty cool car. You don't see many around. Still appealing to look at.
Comfort
3900rpm at 70mph on the motorway gets annoying. Seats can give me back ache too after long journeys. Wind noise. Wing mirrors aren't worth a carrot.

Security and Service
Security
Crap from standard (top of the doors are very flexible) but mine has a Cat2 Cobra alarm/immobiliser and after market steering and handbrake locks, so the average little egg won't bother thieving it.
Service
Average, because it's an XSi and it's a 92 most parts need to be ordered in.
