Economy
Value
Better build quality than the new Saxo VTS/VTR and a cheaper alternative too. Shame it lacks power steering and ABS.
Costs
Not the cheapest sports hatch to buy for this age, but holds value well. Good fuel economy and due to recent legislation governing engine sizes below 1, cheaper tax! Very good!

On the road
Driving
Excellent seats. A positive gear change and very reassuring, confident grip. Not so good where foot space is concerned inside the pedal box and the front seat doesn't go back far enough.
Performance
Not as rapid as my old 205 1.6 GTI, but quick. Get it above 3500rpm and it eats Golf GTis for breakfast!

Living with it
Reliability
No problems so far. I've had this car for nearly 2 years and the only problem I've had is a faulty boot solenoid for the central locking.
Image
Not a tart's car. Looks great in standard form and turns heads (especially in silver). Sadly it's starting to get beaten by the newer 106 GTI.
Comfort
Acceptable for a small car. Quite loud at motorway speeds, but HEY this really isn't a motorway car is it?

Security and Service
Security
Not attracted any 'tea-leaves' so far, but could do with alarm to backup the immobiliser.
Service
Don't do main dealers after my 205 experience! Daylight robbery. Shop around, it's worth it.
