Summary
What does this car say about you?
Cheap and cheerful.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They all seemed to like it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would, but not as a serious day-to-day car. I have an interest in cars so a 106 GTi would be ideal to buy as a project/hobby car. Cheap, lots about, and prone to breaking down.
What are you likely to buy next?
BMW M3.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£2,200
When did you buy the car?
January 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
There was slight cosmetic damage to the door which was reflected in the price. Given the age of the car (2003, latest production for the 106), it was good.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
What was the dealer like?
He was a postman.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Quite good. You could happily through it around narrow lanes and expect to keep your wing mirrors due to the incredibly narrow build. It had decent acceleration, but once you get to 60 MPH, forget it. In gear times aren't a desirable factor for this car either, you really have to put your foot down for overtaking. It really should be more effortless. For town driving, it's perfect. The only reason for this car being "nippy" despite it's small engine and low power output, is it's "power to weight ratio". As soon as you get 3 people in the car, you'll notice. Alot! Breaking also becomes trouble some.
What's it like to park?
It's size of a shoebox. Easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Faulty electrics caused problems with the rear lights, I suspect this was due to water damage. They aren't sealed off what so ever. Clutch release bearing went.
What's most practical about your car?
It had a good sized boot considering the size of the car. The seats folded completely flat.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
These cars have absolutely no gadgets.
