Peugeot 205 Cabriolet 1986

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Definitely can not buy as much fun for a grand.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Bits need doing from time to time, but I found parts easy to get and cheap.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Great for a 4 seater, much of the GTI control is passed down to the CTI.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

Still better engine than many new hot hatches, amazing for a 1.6, enjoy beating boy racers who like to have a go in their Saxo's.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not broken down, problems with idle when cold, get an old one tuned by a Pug specialist (NOT PEUGEOT GARAGE)

I like it, most other people do too, CTI is quite rare, makes people smile looks good with hood up or down a Pininfarina design classic.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Pretty good in comparison to other cars of its age, heater could be better especially if you fancy having the top down in spring/autumn. German company makes a good wind block for it now, so this reduces air turbulence inside cabin.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

    Need an immobiliser at least.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Parts people have been helpful, might have to go through catalogue with them to find convertible only parts but are patient. Garage service a waste of time as no where to plug their computers in to tell them what is wrong with the car

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Its had a rebuild before I got it, but is running well now for 30,000 miles.

    Other

Fitted new hood myself - advice don't do it, its a pig, needs lots of gluing and even pop rivets, wish I spent the £150 to get it fitted. Still looked good once done.
