Peugeot 205 Hatchback 1.4 Sceptre 5d (1993/L) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Bought in 2002 for £1400 84k miles, 3 years + later, 122k miles, no faults, all sound.
Costs
39MPG for motorway. About average as far as i can see for cars. Servicing, i've taken to Pug, they where reasonable. But local recognise loyal customers and give good prices

On the road
Driving
local driving, quick and light. Motorway, has plently of reserve for overtaking and comfortable crusing. Breaks are good. Quick to respond on stearing
Performance
Well its a 1.4 and performace as such. When at 70 it can quickly get to 90 to overtake. When at 90, does not judder or rattle, have taken to 110 before, scary for a small car, but did not grumble.

Living with it
Reliability
Never let me down, 3rd hand, now done 122k miles for 1993 1.4 model. I am the 3rd owner. Feels like the car will live for ever! No faults, just general ware (CV boots, breaks etc)
Image
Well apprently the 205 is retro now. You don't see them so much now. You don't get people looking, but it has a timeless quality which does not age. It will still leave cars standing at the lights, especial Corsa
Comfort
Seats supportive and comfy. Passengers have said comfy on long journey, no numb bums

Security and Service
Security
Car broken into, screw driver in passenger door, lock very vunerable. But then my fault for parking in Bracknell. If you have the GTI, get the best alarm, it's worth it. This car is not insurance group 8 because of performace, but low security
Service
Definatly look around. Pug like to see there older models and like to have a chat. Just be friendly and have a chat about how you think the car is doing and what you think may be wrong. Helpful customers are good
