Peugeot 205 Hatchback 1983
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Value is spot on. Very good money for such a good little car.

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Had mine for 5 years now and it's passed 4 out of five MOTs and it only then failed with a windscreen wiper blade. Never had to spend anything on it apart from servicing once a year.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

I give it a rating of four because it can get a bit loud during high speeds, but can live with it.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

Can keep up with much bigger cars - got a lot of punch behind it. And thats coming from a boy racer and my last car was a GTi.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Spot on. Engine's extremely chip to maintain. Always starts first time, no matter if it's been freezing over night.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

I'll give this a 3 rating. Looks good standard, but I've done bodywork modifications; if they have mods done then a 5 without a doubt.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Rating says it all. Very good driving position.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

If it's not got an alarm, then get one on. Mine has alarm, immobiliser and tracker system.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

I bought mine with 2 owners and it had done 150,000 miles; it now has over 200,000 miles on the clock and it's still going strong.

    Other

If you are thinking of buying a Peugeot 205, I would recommend a 1.8 D GRD. I've had GTi, but things went wrong with it and it's quite expensive to put right. This car has never let me down yet and I know it wont do for another 5 years at least.
