Peugeot 205 Hatchback 1.8 GRD 5d (1991/H) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
60mpg is easily achievable at normal driving, however if you thrash it that figure goes down and figures of around 4mpg
Costs
It is an old car, and after 14years and 128,700mile on the clock it is showing it's age. However it is only original parts wearing out instead of major faults developing.

On the road
Driving
Very good and always able to put a smile on your face. Able to keep up with other small/medium cars.
Performance
For a 1.8L diesel it cannot match many cars for performance, with only 58bhp it runs out of puff higher up the rev range. However it is good for driving at the speed limit.

Living with it
Reliability
This particular car has had 2 non-starts in its entire life so far. There have been other cold start problems due to again the original parts wearing out.
Image
For an 18 year old male this is quite important. It is seen by friends and collegues as a cool car, but the diesel engine does not help that image.
Comfort
Seats need to be re-trimmed before full comfort is returned. Despite a re-trim, the seats become umcomfortable over long motorway bashes.

Security and Service
Security
It is an old car, therefore it does not have any modern security devices, the radio does have an anti-theft mechanism and the diesel is difficult to start without the keys. However theft from is poor.
Service
Bit expensive but Southgate Peugeot (Hampshire) knew what they were doing.
