Peugeot 205 Hatchback 1983
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

    Very good value for money.

    Costs

    5 out of 5 5.0

Group 8 insurance, though cost less than 1.5d ax (grp 4). Very good fuel economy, cheap pattern parts (e.g. new wing £12!)

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good handling, good grip (limited by 165-section tyres).

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Feels much faster than BHP and 0-60 figures suggest. Good mid-range.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Very good. Bits of trim rattle and fall off, but mechanically very strong. Driveshaft gaiters do split and drop-links wear, but engine/gearbox etc.. very strong.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

Very common, but no stigma to owning one.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

No complaints. Rear seats more comfy than front, for some reason.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Standard pug immobiliser, which is utter rubbish - it took me all of 30 seconds to bypass it when I needed to!) and alarm, which is ok. Not highly sought after by thieves.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Do work myself, but Peugeot are very expensive for parts.
