Peugeot 205 Hatchback 1.8 GRDT 5d (1995/M) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A great second hand buy if you can find one.
Costs
This car can save you money on MPG, but watch out for major mechanical work like cam belt and servicing.

On the road
Driving
Bumpy. Loud and doesn't stick to the road like you'd like it to. Steering wobbles at high speeds.
Performance
Great mid range for overtaking. A bit sluggish at the start and on a cold engine, but up hill you are laughing. Never taken it above 105mph, but there is more!

Living with it
Reliability
Make sure the cam-belt was done at 60,000. Possible solenoid problems (only minor). It must be driven every day. Leave it a week and it won't start. With a FSH, you've got no worries.
Image
Well it's a diesel turbo, not a GTi, but you get the upper hand on the other points.
Comfort
More than five hours will kill your back. Great rear space for its size (boot is brilliant). Can get bumpy due to heavy engine.

Security and Service
Security
No security, other than central locking, but who'd want to nick this car?
Service
Reliable, sensible motors.
