Summary
What does this car say about you?
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
That it's good looking and fun. And they hate sitting in the back!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. It's been reliable, useful and fun.
What are you likely to buy next?
One of the other Peugeot family of folding hardtops, or my dream: a Mercedes SLK.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,000
When did you buy the car?
January 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
They had quoted the price £500 less on their website than marked up on the car -- I got it for the lower price. It was also very low mileage - 7 years old and only 23k on it, former owner a police officer.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I wanted a sporty convertible -- considered the Toyota MR2 and StreetKa but the 2 back seats in the 206CC seemed useful for taking friends on short journeys (station pickup etc).
What was the dealer like?
Your typical older gentleman hard-seller. Although they did give free MoTs for life (which I've never taken up as I live at the other end of the country.).

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Pretty much all the reviews call out the "strange" driving position, which I just don't understand. This is certainly not a car built for tall people - my 6' GF's head touches the roof in her preferred driving position - but at 5'10" I find it no trouble at all. The pedals are grouped a little over to the left but again, I don't have an issue. Probably the most noticeable issue is the extremely stiff suspension - you really do feel every bump and thump on the road and as such it's not a vehicle for driving endless greebly B-roads. But it's smooth enough on main roads and the motorway.
What's it like to park?
It's got a surprisingly enormous turning radius, with the rear wheels seated right at the back of the vehicle to accommodate the folding roof. However, and as an inveterate bad parker, I still never had problems reverse parking on the narrow streets of Bath.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
I've had it for 8 years. In that time it's gone through the consumables - tyres, exhaust, brake pads - as you'd expect. It's also had to have the ABS system disassembled and replaced, and, bizarrely, the left indicator got stuck on recently, which required the steering assembly to be disassembled to replace. At 15 years old the engine is starting to have the odd trouble starting on a cold morning, but considering as a reckless 20-something I have literally *never* had it serviced, this little old Pug has soldiered on mightily.
What's most practical about your car?
Not really "practical" but with the 2 tiny rear seats it is actually possible to collect friends from the train station and suchlike for short journeys. The boot is surprisingly roomy too, although the roof takes up 3/4 of the space when it's folded down.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Got to be the folding roof, obviously. Being able to crank the top down on nice days is lovely, combined with the security of a solid roof to prevent theft and damage, and road noise the rest of the time.
