1.6 only has two airbags compared to the 2.0’s four, but it achieved a good four star Euro NCAP crash rating as a hatchback. The hard roof provides extra security, and there’s also an alarm, immobiliser and remote central locking.

There’s a rather large boot (although the space is significantly reduced when the roof’s down) and you can use the rear two seats for mammoth shopping sprees. That versatile roof gives the best of both worlds – coupe and convertible – which is perfect for British weather; it lowers and folds away in under 30 seconds.
