Summary
What does this car say about you?
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Friends in the front thought it was great, in the back they were no so sure as the seats obstruct most of their view
Would you buy this car again and why?
No, it is a very unreliable car and has spent a significant amount of time in the dealership.
What are you likely to buy next?
The next car I will buy will be a Subaru
-
Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£0
When did you buy the car?
March 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
The car was in the pool at work when my Audi A3 Sport was up for renewal and rather than have the basic Golf I picked this car - so yes I got a good deal as it also saved me some tax!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
It was in the pool as a company car
What was the dealer like?
-
Driving it
What's it like to drive?
On the motorway the car is a dream to drive as it only has 5 gears it is always eager to pull away at any speed. However in traffic it is hard work as the clutch is heavy and it will often judder if not given enough revs (it is tuned so much it doesn't like low revs like most cars)
What's it like to park?
No problems at all, it's small size makes it easy to park - just mind you don't ding the rims as the tyres are low profile
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes, in the time I have had the car I suffered from loss of all electrics (the battery was too small for the holder so it kept moving and loosing the connection), total hydraulic failure (engine dead) and a tyre blow out - all within 6 months
What's most practical about your car?
It is a zippy little car that is easy to get into town parking spaces and up and down the motorways
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The engine!
