Other Peugeot 207 (2006 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

This is the first brand-new car I have purchased. I basically purchased it before the 206 (on a 52 plate, with 53,000 miels) koncked out. I guess it is a sensible purchase. I am on a 3-year passport scheme, so only one service within the term (at 20,000 miles). Shrewed investment.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

None of my family has seen it in the flesh, but from photos, they like it. My work colleagues think it is the best Peugeot has ever made, and are wondering if it is actually is a Mazda in French clothing?

Would you buy this car again and why?

Too early to say. After owning a 406 and 206, I was starting to ebb away from Peugeots, but the dealer was good, the 207 is a far, far better car, and I probably would go for the same model after the end of the 3-year passport scheme.

What are you likely to buy next?

I have this thing for BMWs, but, they are getting more common than Mondeos at the moment. I may go back to diesel, and a 5-door. I wouldn't get a GTI version of this car - feels way too big for too much power. 206 has a better GTI-chassis. Keeping my options open, but this is a very high benchmark.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £10,500

When did you buy the car?

    December 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

Very good deal - 5.9% APR. Works out equal/better than what I was paying on my previous car. 20,000 mile service, warranty and other options make it a good investment.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

There was a special offer on Peugeot Passport - £25 per month more than I was paying on a 52-plate 206HDi

    What was the dealer like?

Very good. No pressure-selling. I drove a 207 in June, but decided to wait for a few months. Got a call from the dealer on the Wednesday - did the deal on the Friday, same week.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Despite my earlier cars being Mondeos, I am still getting used to the width of the car. It feels wider than it is. The drive is much like a saloon car - it absorbs bumps very well. The driving position is excellent, and can be adapted to anyone's build. I am 6'2" and stocky build, and there is so much room. The only niggly bit (and very niggly) problem, is the centre console tends to dig into my leg at times. Visibility is brilliant, as is the improved lighting. Response is good. Not as much torque as my old 206 1.4HDi, but accelleration comes with less rattle than the diesel.

    What's it like to park?

Easiest car I have ever had to park in my life. Compared to my work car, a mark 1 Focus, it is in a different league. The 207 has electronically-adaptive steering, which gets lighter the slower you are driving. Reverse-parking can literally be done (although I don't recommend it) steering with one finger. The larger windows and higher driving position make parking a doddle.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nope. 3-year warranty will cover anything, but the build quality has a very German feel. I would compare the cabin quality to the new Mini.

What's most practical about your car?

Easier to drive than a 206, due to improved driving position. Engine is being run in, so economy is 38mpg combined at the mo.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Sad, but the trip computer - never had one of those in a car before!!!
