Peugeot 208 GTi (2012 - 2018) 1.6 THP GTi Prestige 3d Owner Review

In their own words
Love the car it's probably the cheapest hothatch, I didn't even know it existed until I got in tot he hothatch scene. Economy could be better, I'm averaging about 33-37mpg and the insurance isn't too bad; though I wouldn't recommend it as a first car. The drive is brilliant, loves to be chucked around corners and the acceleration is pretty good, will do most cars off the line. Interior is nice, half leather seats, leather steering wheel, leather trim, all stitched. Heated seats that are quite comfy although you do have the issue with the wheel not being dead centre in front of you. (The cars aren't originally right hand drive but the french literally just move the steering rack and controls to the opposite side but it doesn't sit dead centre in front of the driver's seat, it's not really noticeable unless you really look for it or you drive for a long time)
But I have had some major negatives, mainly reliability. Owned the car 14 months and it has broken down 4 times. 1: 2 hours after I bought it the fuel pump went, thankfully this was right outside where I bought it who replaced it within 4 days under warranty. 2: 3 months after that the head gasket went while I was on my way home from work. Dealer recovered it and fixed it under warranty 3: 5 months after that car shudders in to limp mode while I overtaking a cyclist. Used my OBD scanner, low turbo pressure. I had to replace the diverter valve myself as the car was out of warranty. 4: And finally in February, start my car, stalls out, dies. I now have an electrical fault that is causing the battery to discharge at an alarming rate.
In the end it is a nice car, looks nice and the drive is fantastic. But if you REALLY want to buy one make sure you get one from a reputable dealership with as little mileage as possible, with as long a warranty as you can because if it breaks down you're knackered; this car is not cheap to repair.
How reliable do you find the car?
Broken down 4 times since I have owned it...Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Quality car to drive, but the reliability is a huge let down.About their car
