Summary
What does this car say about you?
That you like pretty cars, and you're a bit of a car enthusiast.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Lots of compliments from the neighbours, son loves it, workmates think it looks good, but my partner is yet to be impressed. Give her time...
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, as long as I could find a matching hardtop for the winter.
What are you likely to buy next?
Same again if this one has insurmountable problems.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£850
When did you buy the car?
July 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
No, paid way over the odds considering the car's condition; should have been half what I paid for it.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I've always wanted one since I had one for a short while as a company car in 2001. Think they're fantastic looking cars, and performance-wise the engine is close enough to the wonderful 306 GTI6 / Xsara VTS engine to keep me happy.
What was the dealer like?
Seemed great at the time, but car had many faults hidden by a good valet and some sales patter. Not experienced main agents yet, but even if they throw rocks at you they'd be better than their Citroen counterparts in my opinion...!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Fun in the sun, a bit rattly on the motorway and plenty of wind noise at 70, but hardtop sorts that out. Not really fully stretched it's legs yet because of oil leak.
What's it like to park?
Easy. Car seems smaller than it is, visibility OKish with roof up, superb with it down.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Electric roof not working, 2 alarms fitted, both randomly went off, engine leaking oil, poor idle. First 2 problems have been fixed by me with help of the superb owner's club, engine leak is next on the list, then the poor idle. All faults were present (but hidden) when i bought the car. Car is cheap and easy to fix, so far.
What's most practical about your car?
Great in the summer time, optional hard top makes it good for the winter too. Surprisingly comfortable and practical for a cabriolet - the boot space is a bit restricted in height, but is plenty big enough for a large weekly shop.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Electric roof, hardtop, comfortable leather interior.
