Economy
Value
Expect to pay for low mileage examples, but look out for rust around the sunroof.
Costs
Let down by the need to replace the head gasket at 65,000 miles and finding electric gremlins in the central locking wiring loom.

On the road
Driving
Great handling. The big car feel is far superior, even to more modern lower mileage equivalents.
Performance
Not the sharpest 0-60, being anly a 1390cc, this is helped by a stiff chasis and good suspension. Cornering, even in the wet can be fun.

Living with it
Reliability
One breakdown due to head gasket failure. Cost £400-odd for that and new timing belt.
Image
Park next to a similar aged Saxo, or Astra, or Megane, or Polo... makes you a proud owner!
Comfort
Sunroof makes the cabin light and airy. Look out for 'collapsed' seat though which can accompany worn interior - particularly on high mileage examples.

Security and Service
Security
Central Locking and immobiliser. Only one 'smash-and-grab' incident, when alarm sounded.
Service
If you want Peugeot expertise, expect to pay for it through the dealerships.
