Economy
Value
Similarly priced as a Golf, holds its value pretty well compared to equivalent Escort/Astra.
Costs
Parts are pretty cheap, well minor parts like light bulbs but fuel economy is awful, does between 28 and 31 mpg.

On the road
Driving
Nice to drive, very sharp handling and can be chucked about around corners but can be scary in the wet.
Performance
Very quick for its engine output, very torquey as well but is much slower when loaded and dreadful on the motorway because of gearing.

Living with it
Reliability
Has gone wrong rather a lot, Four new bulbs for headlights, new horn, fuel filler cap broken, new clutch, new battery, will probably need a new gearbox soon.
Image
Looks good especially in the wet. For a 17 year old, friends might have newer cars but none of them have as much kit or performance of mine, yet again none of them have the embarrassment of stalling very often because of the stiff and sharp clutch.
Comfort
Nice supple suspension but car has no headroom and bucket seats while supportive feel slightly offset. Very stiff clutch.

Security and Service
Security
Remote locking, alarm, immobiliser. Keypad is stuck in service mode but has a mind of its own, and has started setting alarm off and not allowing me to start the car despite using the code.
Service
Haven't used the manufacturer except for a radio code and headlight bulb and they were very good and cheaper than halfords.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Doesn't sound very fit but seems to go well. NOT ECONOMICAL and have did idle erratically until it was fixed.
Other
Keypad immobiliser started acting up. Brake warning light comes on when braking on full lock. Remote locking acts up sometimes. Brakes lock up incredibly easily.
