Peugeot 306 Hatchback 1.8 Meridian 5d (AC) (00) (2000/X) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Initially excellent value as being a special edition it's fully kitted. Has depreciated badly though.. Would be excellent value nowadays!
Costs
Pretty good fuel economy, dealer service costs a bit steep. Insurance very cheap for the car's looks/ performance (group 5/6)

On the road
Driving
Excellent handling - class leader in its day and still compares well with new models. Clunky clutch/gearbox only downside.
Performance
Superb. Just a touch slower than the XSi model but still plenty of power even at motorway speeds.

Living with it
Reliability
Very reliable so far - only issue is a knocking from the front suspension which Peugeot haven't tracked down yet!
Image
Although the 306 is over 10 years old, this model has latest facelift so still looks good - identical to the XSi minus the rear spoiler.
Comfort
Climate control plus leather seats with lumbar support so reasonably comfortable. Bit noisy at motorway speeds.

Security and Service
Security
Fitted with remote locking incl deadlocks and immobiliser. Also four airbags and ABS.
Service
A year later and they haven't yet tracked down the problem mentioned above (still charged me though!)
