Peugeot 306 Hatchback 1993

  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

I paid £11,000 for the car and it depreciated £5500 in 2 and half years. The 306 no longer holds its value like it used too, which is great for the buyer now as the car is great fun to drive.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Relativley economical, but costly when things go wrong. Servicing is quite expensive and don't even bother getting spare parts direct from Peuegot. Go to the breakers yard.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good fun to drive, holds the road and is relativley comfortable to drive. Engine quite noisy at high revs, but quiet when cruising.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Acceleration to 60 is surprisingly good. Especially on cold, dry mornings! 60-90 is fairly quick, although things start to slow from 100 onwards. Dashboard shakes when you hit 110+.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not 100% reliable. Oil leaks and a bizarre Engine cutting out problems whilst doing 60mph. This was quite scary as I lost all power and the car came to halt. Fortuanately I was on a quiet road and not on the fast lane of the M25.

Great looking car and still looks good today. Looks great from front. Nice alloy wheels and skirts.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not too bad, but not the most comfortable car I've ever driven.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Deadlocks, but no alarm. Security is ok, but not amazing. Insurance is low, though.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Peugeot are expensive and their staff only appear to be interested if you're buying a car.
