Economy
Value
Not bad for second hand, very expensive new (18k).
Costs
Good, 9k service intervals on pre 98 cars, 20k on post 98 ones.

On the road
Driving
Excellent car when it came out, phase 2 suspension changes over phase one made it less tail happy.
Performance
Fantastic, though engine power seems to vary from 150bhp to 180bhp. Good midrange grunt and great exhaust note all the way though the rev range (not thrashy).

Living with it
Reliability
If maintained properly, this car shouldnt give you any problems, there were about 3 recalls between 96 and 98 on these cars, airbag/pretensioner light, fuel lines needed re routing and cannot remember the last one as i sold my last GTi-6 back in 2000.
Image
Stylish, phase 1 cars look dated but had better interior than phase 2 (owned both) leather trim over cloth, discreet car, only full body colour coding gave it away (97 cars). Too many dogs out there now, boy racers dont maintain them so reliability drops.
Comfort
Comes with everything standard, climate control, electric everything, ABS etc.

Security and Service
Security
Keypad on phase 1 cars, transponder on phase 2 cars, alarm standard (thatcham cat 2) but would suggest upgrade for new owners.
Service
Peugeot lack after sales servicing, though i didnt have too many problems with the garage i took mine to, you do hear horror stories (if out of warranty id use a good independant dealer).
