Economy
Value
Second hand values are now very low.
Costs
Costs are average for this class of hot hatchback. Servicing and parts are acceptable if the owner is willing to look around. Fuel consumption is heavy if used as intended and only acceptable with gentle use. Expect 26-28mpg on average.

On the road
Driving
Extremely enjoyable sporting hatchback with ultra communicative steering, well sorted chassis that manages to combine sporty handling with a very acceptable ride.
Performance
Very strong pull above 4500rpm. Needs to be worked hard to get the maximum from the engine, but rewards the driver with a very cultured twin cam snarl at the higher revs. Six gears are well chosen for hard driving. Low to mid range pull is also good.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems to date but needs cambelt and tensioners changing every 40,000miles. Depends on level of care. Looked after examples with regular oil changes will reward the owner with longevity.
Image
Wolf in sheep's clothing. Understated performance car.
Comfort
Has all the luxuries one should expect. Ride quality is very good for a sporty hot hatch.

Security and Service
