Summary
What does this car say about you?
No idea. I'm 29 now and have always had cheap hatchbacks which served a purpose. This is the first car which has had some quality to it so I don't really care in some ways. I think it says "responsibility" if I'm pressed for a description. It's a safe, fuel efficient and pleasurable car to drive. That's good enough for me.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Friends think it looks nice in Silver... and remark on how neat and tidy it is. Family think it's good on the fuel stakes. Pretty much the opinions I expected really.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Definitely. It's a love affair with Peugeots I think. There are niggles with them but if you are good with a spanner and have a Haynes manual you can fix all of the problems yourself. The diesel engines are solid anyway so anything that needs doing is a nice weekend DIY job.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably an 05 plate of the same model. But I will wait 3/4 years unless this either comes a cropper or is still performing.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£1,500
When did you buy the car?
January 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
I got a very good deal. My 206 was a nail really. It scraped through an MOT by the skin of its teeth and the bodywork was shocking. He gave me £300 on it which really helped with my budget.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I like the look and feel of Peugeot cars. Anything is better than a Renault Scenic and a Rover 220 (my previous cars). Loved my 206 so needed something a little bigger for the family.
What was the dealer like?
Very friendly. Stayed in the office until 8pm after taking me for a test drive in rush hour traffic. I probably wasted his time a little earlier in the day as I walked away to look at some other 307s even though my gut instinct was to buy this one.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very smooth. It's the 1.4HDi so I'm not setting land speed records but then again it gets up to 20/30mph quickly, 40mph, 50mph and a little over 70mph in good time. Those were the speed limits the last time I checked. You don't "beat" other people on the roads; your battle is with the fuel gauge.
What's it like to park?
Easier than I thought. Lots of reports about poor visibility but I'm with another reviewer on this... if you can park, you can park anything.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing yet but a few things needed to be sorted. The handbrake button was missing so I bought a new complete unit and fitted it in around 45 mins. Very easy job and satisfying to do yourself. There is a scratch on the near side the full length of the car (why it was so cheap) but this can be fixed.
What's most practical about your car?
The cabin space is very impressive along with the boot. The seats are extremely comfortable and the driving position is superb. It feels very MPV like and I never expected this. Lots of surprises. Quite a few cubby holes too and the rear seats are a lot more roomy for my kids. Perfect!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The first owner purchased the optional AC so I'll be ok in the summer (it is very cold). I have also upgraded it myself to use a trip computer (end piece on the wiper stalk from a scrappy and a Peugeot Planet ECU upgrade - £10 in total).
