Summary
What does this car say about you?
You like to get a compromise between features, economy and styling.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it, everyone is surprised with how much space there is and how comfortable it is. I've had a few comments on how quiet and smooth it is although a bit noisy at high speed. They have all laughed at the pathetic sounding horn!
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would certainly consider it if it made financial sense at the time, however, if I could afford a better car, I wouldn't even consider it!
What are you likely to buy next?
Dream car - Alfa Romeo Brera Realistically - either stick with this for a few more years or go for a small German car of similar size (Leon, Golf, A3 etc). If I'm feeling like a bit more style for low price then I'd consider getting a de-badged Hyundai Coupe Siii.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,000
When did you buy the car?
October 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
It was a reasonable deal, I probably could have haggled them down a little bit more than I did but I did get a few extras thrown in as well as a little off the list price. I did a lot of shopping around though so I was only there to see that particular car, I'd already seen lots of other 307's, this one just happened to be the best one at the best price!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
It seemed like it was the best compromise between price, running costs, space, features and styling at the time.
What was the dealer like?
Reasonable, I didn't feel like I was being led on, it just seemed like a pretty standard dealership.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Driving is honestly not this cars strong point, having said that, it's not terrible either. The steering is very vague (it feels like you're driving a boat!) and the gear box is not the most precise in the world either! You'll find yourself sat in 5th nearly all the time unless you're stationary! It has enough grunt and grip to be fun to drive on country roads but it does feel underpowered on the motorway. Poor acceleration (it's quite heavy for what it is) can make it hard to overtake in certain situations, expect it to struggle up hills as well. Overall, not great but also not too bad, feels solid and copes with most road conditions well. Quiet at lot speed, sounds like you're thrashing it once up to about 60mph.
What's it like to park?
It's fine to park. No issues here.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing has actually gone wrong with it but there are little niggling issues (seems to be the way with Peugeot). It sometimes beeps at me if I coast for too long and sometimes if I'm slowing down to a stop, I've had a mechanic friend look at it and read the computer as well as having the original dealer check this out, they seemed to say it was just the way the car is. No actual issues with anything going wrong though. Solid engine so far!
What's most practical about your car?
Space is the big thing here, it's not a big car but somehow they've managed to make it feel like a large saloon inside. Really large boot, loads of leg room, really comfortable with headroom as well. Nice set of interior features as well.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The computer is actually really handy and easy to use. It's really nice having such a decent computer in such a cheap car, all controlled from the steering wheel stalk. I also like the trays under the front seats as well as the cooled glove compartment!! Looks good in black!
