Peugeot 307 Hatchback (2001 - 2007) 2.0 Feline 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
This is a car for people who buy something they like, not something they're told to by the faceless masses. Britain has a love hate relationship with Peugeot. We seem to have forgotten how hugely popular the 206, 306 and 406 were. We forget that Peugeot revitalised the hot hatch with the 205 GTi, or that they revitalised the coupe cabriolet with the 206 CC. It seems to have started with Jeremy Clarkson, after Peugeot refused to let him review one of their cars following a bad review of some earlier model, and Clarkson has never let this grudge go; his millions of fans, who've never owned a Peugeot, malign a car they will never even touch. For me, the facelifted 307 has been a brilliant car. It has its share of electrical gremlins, as all Peugeots, Citroens and Renaults do, and it's needed some work, but only because it's been hammered and neglected by previous owners. It's fun to drive, offers a lot of grip, sounds absolutely amazing, and it's got a fair turn of speed. I have never had a single bad comment in a year of owning it, and it gets a lot of surly looks from boy racers in Astras and Focuses (Foci?). I love driving this car and if I eventually need to replace it, hey ho, back to Peugeot I will go.
How reliable do you find the car?
This is not your run of the mill shopping plodder, this is a rare performance version and will only be owned by people wanting to thrash it. Mine was in need of some work (clutch, brakes, ABS sensor, drop links etc) which all needed doing at once and was therefore really expensive. Also, the cruise control doesn't work properly, a known fault on 307s requiring a software update.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I honestly don't know why other cars exist when the 307 does virtually everything the competition does, but undercuts them significantly on price. My previous car was a Ford Focus ST170 and the 307 Feline looks better, sounds much better, returns more MPG, has been more reliable, has a far more attractive interior, turns more heads and attracts more positive comments. This is not intended to match a Golf mk7 GTI, it's the next class down (think Golf GT) and undercuts the competition on price. I won't ever own a 3-door car again though. Fuel, tax and insurance surprisingly acceptable.About their car
