Summary
What does this car say about you?
It was the 3dr model, so young, free and single...?
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Never had any negative comments - though I don't buy to please others!
Would you buy this car again and why?
No, because I'm no longer young, free OR single! Bigger, more practical vehicle required.
What are you likely to buy next?
Already replaced in 2010 with a Kia Cee'd SW CRDi.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£10,688
When did you buy the car?
October 2002
Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought from Arnold Clark, so price was competitive.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Good Peugeot reputation. Liked styling and high driving position.
What was the dealer like?
Well, I was a bit wet-behind-the-ears at the time and fell for the old "there's another buyer interested" routine, so it was a bit of a hard-sell.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Effortless, due to flexible diesel engine. Good roadholding. Comfortable seats and good ride quality. Predates modern 'common rail' diesel technology, but still good for 45-50 MPG.
What's it like to park?
That's a non question - it's the driver, not the car, that determines parking ability - if you can't park, you can't park, whether you're in a Mondeo or a Mini.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Apart from fairly routine wear-and-tear over 8 years and 70k miles, the stand out items were: Column switch unit replaced twice under warranty; Front discs and pads seem only to last about 10k miles, and Peugeot refuse to accept this as a warranty issue - given that I've had cars in the past go over 50k on the original discs, I don't think it's me that's the problem; Count on replacing at least one ABS sensor every MOT; Bank on VERY frequent external bulb changes.
What's most practical about your car?
Easily the best driving position of any car I've ever driven. Excellent interior space - I'm 6'2", and with the driving seat adjusted for me, I could still get comfortable in the back; good shaped, sizeable boot for the class of car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Ice-cold air-con.
