In their own words
This is the prince engine (BMW and PSA group creation) renowned for timing chain issues in BMW Mini and Peugeot 207,308 etc. My car Peugeot 308 (yr2009) had an issue with the timing of the crank and camshaft were out of sync, Soon sorted with a complete timing chain kit with sprockets (BGA), The car had only done 27,500 miles. Other issue was someone had broken the parcel shelf which caused the folding roof to get stuck. This was replaced with a second hand one and works a treat. A full service was carried out. The car is now smooth and ready to do 100+K miles. The likes of this car has to be the folding roof being a convertible and the level of equipment at your disposal with an SE model. This car's engine requires slightly more oil changes to give it optimum performance and best maintenance. This car is rare as in 2020(COvid 19) its hard to find something similar automatic convertible with extremely low mileage seating 4 people. I bought this in the year 2020 and it was One elderly owner for the last 10years hence the 27k mileage.
The dislikes have to be a design flaw in the rainwater coming from the windscreen goes into the engine bay near the battery and engine/ECU. There is no proper tray to channel the water under the wiper cover plastic scuttle tray. Water ends up on the sound insulation making the insulation useless after a few years. I built a hard plastic sheet cover to channel the water to the sides and stop the water moving onto the battery/ECU and engine. Gear change from 1st to 2nd gives a jerk in cold conditions but is overcome when the engine is heated up causing the transmission oil to heat up OR you can use the winter mode * until the engine is up to a good temperature and there is no jerk at all.
