Peugeot 405 Estate 1.9 GTXD Turbo 5d (1995/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bought it just before the slump in used car prices so that influences the rating. Not losing any sleep over it, though.
Costs
Good local dealer; fair prices. Very economical - loves cruising.

On the road
Driving
Need to get to know the diesels habits and makes sure gears and revs are in sync to avoid embarassment on inclines. Very comfortable sitting position. Heavy clutch.
Performance
Hey, it's a diesel - if you want performance look elsewhere. That said, pick up on the motorway is surprisingly good.

Living with it
Reliability
Hasn't let us down.
Image
With so many variants, I doubt the GTX on the boot signifies much. Steady and sensible.
Comfort
As noted above, very comfortable. Three kids in the back also seem to have plenty of room.

Security and Service
Security
Hasn't been tested thank goodness.
Service
We are lucky to have a Peugeot main dealer less than two miles away. The're friendly, efficient and give good value.
