  • Economy

    Value

    2 out of 5 2.0

Unfortunately, not value for money. Fairly reasonably prices, but servicing and parts cost are on the steep side considering it's in the garage most of the time. My advice would be… make sure that the car has a full service history.

    Costs

    2 out of 5 2.0

Worth paying that little extra to secure a loved car, with so many high mileage thrashed taxi's and company cars around beware. Repairs are very costly.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Very average, never going to win the RAC rally, but then again it's a family saloon.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Never going to beat the land speed record, but suitable for long motorway journey and very easy on the pocket round town. So any boy racers think again before buying a diesel 406, get ready to be beaten 0-60 by your grand mothers mobility scooter.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

This is the part where I would suggest you sit down make yourself comfortable…… where to start. Remember the good old days of British motor engineering well the French have managed to create a car with sleek looks and the reliability of a Maestro.

Look very nice, but built like lego, which part will fall off next?!?

    Comfort

    2 out of 5 2.0

Cannot complain about the comfort factor, seats are comfortable if a little shallow. Only real complaint is the lack of a drivers armrest, really miss that armchair feeling when doing 85mph down the M1. But one word of warning, should you wish to do 85mph

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Well I cannot imagine gangs of Chav's from local council estates rushing out to steal a 406 Tdi, not unless they want the embarrassment of being catch by a bobby on a bicycle. Joking apart keypad immobiliser can be a bit of a pain, but effective

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

The level of service I have received from Beck of Eastbourne and Hove are nothing short of a joke. Must admit their arrogance and rudeness are fitting for a Peugeot dealership. Having written a 6 page letter detailing all

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Tried and tested, cannot complain about the engine, will be running a long time after the rest of the car has disintegrated.

    Other

Electrical gremlins are an understatement, come back manual windows all is forgiven.

    Ownership

Did you buy the car new?

    Used

Would you buy the same model again?

    No

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
