Economy
Value
For the prices they can be picked up now, these represent excellent value.
Costs
OK fuel economy - 45mpg average (50mpg if driven carefully), so not as good as more recent diesels. Servicing costs average.

Driving
Great handling, fantastic drive.
Performance
Slow off the mark, but get it above 40mph and it's a great cruiser.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Only a worn-out battery and the odd light bulb. Never failed to start and always runs smoothly (I ensure it's serviced exactly on schedule).
Image
Looks good but the Peugeot 406 will always struggle to shake off it's taxi image.
Comfort
Very, very roomy - I drive a 120-mile round-trip commute to work daily and never feel any discomfort.
-
Security and Service
Security
Strong deadlocks and keypad immobiliser do the trick. One mark knocked off for flimsy boot security.
Service
Never visited Peugeot as they have a terrible reputation for service. Know a great independent mechanic who always does a great job for half the price that Peugeot would charge.

Other
If you don't intend to race around everywhere then this car is great. A nice reliable & comfortable cruiser.
