Peugeot 406 Saloon (1996 - 2004) 2.0 HDi S (110bhp) 4d (AC+SN) Owner Review

Bought in 2012 with 110 000 miles for fairly cheap - good fuel economy and is comfy/spacious for the age. Well suited for long distances....Over all a solid old car apart from the issues below! Very little corrosion, paint work is still pretty decent and no electrical issues. Clutch is original & original battery was replaced last year. Had it less than 2 weeks when both front springs broke (Replacement springs lasted 7 years), 2 years later the power steering system developed a pin hole and lost all the fluid(Never developed a leak again). Easy to rectify these issues and parts are fairly cheap. Car was eating wheel bearings (Originals lasted over 120k miles) for a period which turned out to be a drive shaft which wasn't fully engaged in the hub so had it milled very slightly and never been an issue since. Engine is bullet proof if it gets serviced regularly...all in all a good old work horse that still pulls strongly. You could take one of these cars round the clock easily. Original exhaust has been replaced from the Catalytic converter (Failed at the welds this year) through to the back box (replaced in 2016).
