Summary
What does this car say about you?
I love the styling of the 407, it's a bit lite a poor mans masserati.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
All think it's very nice. Most express surprise that a peugeot is so refined.
Would you buy this car again and why?
yes but would prefer a hatchback version.
What are you likely to buy next?
peugeot 3008 arrives next month. Unfortunately even with the top of the range exclusive trim it doesn't have the toys of the 407's SE trim.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I love driving the 407. The 1.6 HDI has plenty of pull and romps up hills past petrol engined cars easily. Being lower geared than the 2.0 HDI it doesn't suffer from getting bogged down in 2nd gear as you approach roundabouts etc. The engine is free revving and a joy to drive.
What's it like to park?
The long bonnet is a little tricky to judge but you gate used to it. All the controls are light and maneurverability is easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
100% reliable despite 2 year servicing intervals. At the first 2 year service the car came back with filthly oil. I suspect the dealer did not even change it. Despite this the car has been 100% reliable - perhaps it might not have been had the dealer actually serviced it!
What's most practical about your car?
Being a saloon the 407 is not especially practical but with folding rear seats it has just about met our families demands. It averages 45 mpg about town. On a long run we get 52 mpg which is somewhat short of peugeots figures but acceptable. Have never got anywhere near the claimed combined of 64 mpg.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The SE trim has refinements like automatic wipers and light, speed limiter and cruise control have all been nice to have.
