Summary
What does this car say about you?
It stands out from the crowd, it still is a great looking car.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Everybody likes it and compliments on the smoothness of the ride - my wife has sadi it's as smooth as our old Jag
Would you buy this car again and why?
No, the build quality is hopeless. The rear door straps were raw steel and rusty - I've had to give them a coat of Hameright! The failing ball joints are real pain. Any replacement sensors have to be programmed which is a main dealer job.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probabaly back to Ford

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£10,000
When did you buy the car?
September 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
He'd dropped the price by £1000 the week before because it wasn't shifting - so yes a good deal I think
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Practical estate to compliment our other car - a less practical BMW mini
What was the dealer like?
Seemed like a nice guy, small trader
-
Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Fine. Engine smooth and quiet but lacks the punch of my (much coarser and less power) Mondeo. Cracking ball joints and low speed tiresome.
What's it like to park?
Ok because mine as fitted with parking sensors, otherwise would be a chore.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
In 20k miles Ball joints replaced twice, Rear ABS sensors failed - needed fuel tank lowering to fix. Tyre valve snapped cost £100 to replace and reprogram. Air con just packed up - not yet fixed. Power steering permananty leaking - special fluid too.
What's most practical about your car?
It's an estate, nowhere near the room of my Mk3 Mondeo it replaced. But pretty comftable
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Cruse control, speed limiter, glass roof
