Summary
What does this car say about you?
It says boring family man which I guess is what I am!! It says that I am not extravagent but enjoy my creature comforts.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Those who are not badge snobs love the car for its comfort, space, equipment level and practicality but those badge snobs can't get past the fact that it is French.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, it is comfortable, cruises at speed well, carries all of my DIY, camping, surfing etc gear. The heated electric leather seats are brilliant and easy to keep clean (a must with small children).
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably something similar given my high annual mileage and need for space. A decent engine and a reasonable spec matched with a low asking price will be on the agenda so that counts out most German cars. I guess my badge snob friends will just have to live with it!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,000
When did you buy the car?
June 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, the car had been on the forecourt for some time I am guessing because of the engine size putting people off and I waited for the price to be slashed which it was.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Cheap car from a main dealer, good spec and strong engine.
What was the dealer like?
Pushy and rude. Starting talking to other customers whilst dealing with me, disappeared for about 10 minutes mid transaction but equally he was not interested in checking out my trade in so he missed some of the reasons why I was changing it. If he had been more attentive I might have even pointed some of them out.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
This is my first diesel so I have had to change my driving style. It pulls very strongly and performs pretty well. It does roll a bit on corners though which is disappointing for a Peugeot although I do accept that it is a big old car to throw around. It is pretty frugal with fuel. If I drive it very hard in town I still get about 32mpg on a run I'm over the 40mpg mark. I previously had a 2.2 petrol which has similar performance but gave only around 22mpg around town and 37mpg at best on a run.
What's it like to park?
If you can find a space long enough to parallel park, it is easy. However, this is an incredibly long car with a huge front overhang so finding a large enough space is not always guaranteed.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Front suspension bush perished which was replaced under the Peugeot warranty that came with the car. However in order to get to the part I was advised that they had to break a ball joint to get to it which wasn't covered by the warranty and cost me £170!!
What's most practical about your car?
The load space with the fold down front seat. This means that I can carry very long loads inside the car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Although not always 100% reliable, the voice recognition is a great toy. I could easily live without it and it is annoying when it doesn't recognise something but when it works it brings a smile to my face. I would never pay for this on a new car but it is good fun.
