If you were to get this car look at the diesel, not the petrol engine, I hope mine is a one-off but it has hit my wallet hard and has put me off owning another Peugeot in the future.
Apart from all the issues listed above the design, equipment, boot space is very good when you compare it to other cars around its price/size, I paid £5000 for mine and at the time the only things that were available in the speck I wanted were Vauxhall's, Chevrolet's and Dacha's
How reliable do you find the car?
Picked up my 508 SW with just over 50,000 on the clock, one owner and could not have been happier, having read up on the THP Prince engine that's in the car like most engines is seemed to have some common issues but overall its reviews were good. After 5 months the driver heated seat stopped working. 6 months into owning the car it developed an oil leak, top and bottom sump seals replaced and it was still there, turned out to be the cam chain tensioner bolt that is a common issue that BMW and Peugeot ignore overall bill came to just over £600, off I went thinking at least the bolt has been changed now so can't think of what could go wrong... A month on its suffered a complete engine and body management system failure, the cam chain is stretched, the water pump is leaking, there is part of the cam chain guide missing and there is a new oil leak this time the bill was to the tune of £3500. I put a lot of research into a car before purchasing it, this has so far been the most unreliable car I have ever owned.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
The 508 SW Allure is a very well equipped car, the panoramic roof is a nice touch, loads of space. The in-car entertainment system/satnav can be a bit slow/quirky and the drinks holders are a nice design but impractical as they block the satnav when in use.About their car
