• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

We have a large family and we like full size seats, not silly pop-up seats in the boot!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They think it is practical for our needs.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, if it was still on sale in the UK. It has been reliable and on the daily stop start school runs it returns a regular 29 mpg--much better than the 16mpg in our petrol Grand Voyager. It pulls very well and cruises comfortably. The 136 FAP engine is much better than the base 2.0 HDi.

What are you likely to buy next?

Another full size MPV with 6 or 7 full size seats and another diesel engine. There are not many options on the market at present, so we will hold on to this 807 for a while longer!

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,995

When did you buy the car?

    February 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

I spent months searching the internet before I found this low mileage example at a VW dealership. Felt I got a good price and a fair part-ex for my Chrysler Grand Voyager 3.3 petrol.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Diesel engine. Electric sliding doors. 7 seats. Price and specification.

    What was the dealer like?

Salesman was helpful and professional. The process was easy.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

It drives as pleasantly as any large full size MPV. Rides much more smoothly than previous Grand Voyager that had leaf spring rear suspension. A very, very comfortable long distance cruiser.

    What's it like to park?

Not bad at all as I had reversing sensors fitted after I bought the car.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Seems to blow light bulbs more frequently than any other car I have owned. But to date, no major faults or problems to report.

What's most practical about your car?

The 7 seat layout suits my family of 2 adults and 4 sons. Seats are easy to remove and we drive the car daily as a 6 seater with an airline style aisle through the middle. No handbrake or gear lever to obstruct in the middle as handbrake is on driver's right hand side and gear stick is on dash. With all the seats removed it is a fantastic van for the IKEA run!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Electric sliding doors are a godsend with 4 young children, especially in narrow car park spaces. Good stereo and climate control system too. The cruise control system is excellent. However, I think the automatic lights and automatic wipers are more gimmicky than necessary.
